How is your Christmas?

How is your Christmas? I always heard this question countless of times. Everybody wants to know. What did you got or what did Santa gave you? Christmas here and in the Philippines is very different. People just slept and don't even get at 12:00 Midnight. In the Philippines we always celebrate Christmas with joy, fireworks and food together with family and friends. I been waiting for a fireworks but nothing happen and people are seems to be snoring hehehe. I my self went to bed at 12:30 AM, but hey at least I've waited. Then when I woke up I got somethings from Santa. I was really happy when I see that Santa gave me a Sunbeam Heated Blanket/Throw. I really need one since it is getting very cold everyday. I also got a watch, chocolates and etc. Christmas is different here but its still Christmas. We had breakfast and we went to my mother in-law for dinner. We still had fun, I still had fun. Now, I'm looking forward for the New Year and thinking what it will bring.

Christmas Cookies

Christmas cookie and fun. Yesterday was fun. I was with my sister in-law's house and we made some cookies. It's my first time in their house but it feels good. Both daughter (courtney and Kate) and one son (Brad) was at the house and they are just goofy but in a good way goofy. It reminds me of my mother and brothers. When all of us (my two brother and me) was home, we always kid around and we ended up chasing each other and using our mother as a shield which ended up my mother shouting to make us stop. But it was fun and I missed them.

By the way, we made 3 different cookies. A Peanut Butter Cookies, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Mexican Wedding Cake. We are having fun while making a mess in the kitchen. The results are cookies made out of fun and of course love.
we just put chocolate in some of the mexican wedding cake

Antique Collectibles

There are times when you feel like to doing things or feel passionate with certain things. I am talking about antique or vintage collection. It usually started with one piece then you found another which makes it two, then three and then you won't realize you already have a collections. I am starting to collect older things. I have miniature tea pots, old books from 1890's and some fishing gear. There are many antique collectibles that can be found just right the corner, an estates sale, garage/yard sale, thrifts store, auctions and some online.

Antique collection is a very enjoyable hobby and you can also make money out of it. Don't you like to make money doing the things you love? I do. I will go to an estate sale with my husband and bought what catches our attention. Then do some research and keep what we like and sell what we don't like. So far we are doing well in eBay. There are plenty of antique collectibles out there. All you have to do is open your eyes. You can also find information about antique collectibles online and even buy online. There are online communities which focus on antique collections where member shares opinion, buy or sell and help each other. I Antique Online is one of them. You can join their community for free and enjoy meeting people which shares your passion for antique/vintage collection.

Caylee Anthony's Case

This is one of the news that I've been following lately. Caylee Anthony, a 3 years old, is missing for a couple of months and the worst part is that her own mother is the suspect. There are rumors that she is dead, that her own mother killed and dump her somewhere. Now the latest news is that Caylee Anthony is found.Or at least a body that is believed to hers.

Yesterday, an Orlando utility worker lift a garbage bag where a skull fall out of it. The skull still have a duct tape around its mouth. Police believe that it is Caylee Anthony, but they're still doing some laboratory works and some DNA testing on it. If the result will confirm that it is indeed Caylee and her own mother did it, then what happens next? How can a mother do this? I am really moved by this news. Everytime I hear something like this I can't help but ask "How can a mother/father do this?" It's so sad. I was raised by two wonderful persons. My mother and father are not perfect but never in my life I felt scared when I'm with them. Home should be the place where you feel safe and secure. Both are very loving and wonderful parents.

The body might be Caylee Anthony or not, I still pray that whoever did this will pay or be punish under our law and in God's law.

I Need Coffee

Do you ever wake up one morning and feels like not getting out of bed? That's what happened this morning. But I need to get up. My God, I need a coffee to start my day. It's cold and snowing outside. This season sucks. It's nice if you are inside and just looking outside the window. Just hope it's not this cold. Hhhhmmmm, my coffee is brewing and I love the smell of it. Hope this will really wake me up. Anybody wants to have a cup with me? LOL!!!

World's Oldest Person Died at 115

AP - Edna Parker holds a rose that she wasgiven during a birthday party for her inShelbyville, Ind., in April.
November 26, 2007, the world's oldest person died at 115 years old. Edna Parker died at a nursing home. Outlived her husband for almost 70 years and her two sons.

I wonder what her secret is. They said she never drank alcohol or smoked and lived an active life. My grandmother was the same thing, never drank or smoked and also very active but she died at the age of 85. Hhhmmmm...

This news has been in my head for a couple of days. I keep on wondering about at what age I am going to face death. As much as I hate talking about death I can’t help but wonder. Would I like to be like her? I always said to myself that if I reach 60 I’m good to go. I don't even know if I will reach 60. Do you? My husband said to me one time that if we only know when we are going to die everything will be different. Will, one thing is for sure and that is nothing in this life is certain. Today you might have a job then tomorrow you don't. I guess that's life. So whatever we have now we need to be sure to get most of it. As I said life is so short that we must live our life to the fullest.

Pictures from Auction

Got here some pictures from the auction. Never mind the date of some of the pictures (time of the camera was not set ^.^)

this is the map... we google it incase we get lost... hehehe...

Scott... The Auctioneer in white..

vintage fishing lures...

some fishing stuff... rods/reels..

fishing reels..

on the way to the auction...

vintage irons....

These are just few of the items. One Lady spent $1800.00 that day and all she want are the irons. Some irons went for a $100 to almost $300. I even had a headache listening Mr. Burt going through the prices... But hey! its an experience. I am looking for another auction hehehe...

What a Week

What a week! It’s been a week since my last post. Last Sunday we went to an Auction. It's 2 hours drive but it’s worthy. Aside from the fact that I saw new town and places we meet new people. The auction is a blast. Hundreds of old or vintage cast iron and trivet. There are also hundreds of fishing stuff like vintage fishing reels, rods and lures.

Collection of a Life-Time

A life-time collection of the late Bill Norton. His wife decided put it in an auction and Scott R. Burt & Sons Auctions was chosen which by far did an incredible job. Everybody that went there got some and more. We got what we want, which are the fishing stuff and we did good considering we spend $800. We are into the buy low, sell high theory since we are selling a few items in eBay. Now I have more stuff for eBay and it keeps me busy the whole week and this coming days.

Christmas is here!!

Christmas is here! It's 4:00 AM and I just arrived home from helping a friend decorate his house for Christmas. He is going to surprise his fiancee. She will be home from work around 7:00 AM.

They lost all of their Christmas stuff 2 months ago because of the flood in their basement. The worst part is, they just moved in that house for a month when it happened. His fiancee is a Christmas person. She loves to decorate the house and everything but can't do it anymore. They are on a tight budget as they just purchased the house. But my friend wants to surprise her. So while she was sleeping, we went shopping for Christmas decors and since we are on a budget we went to a thrift store, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and Big Lots which we got some good deals.

When she went to work (around 7:00 PM) and that's the time he went to work. A friend let him borrow a 7 foot Christmas Tree and around 11:00 PM we started decorating the house. There was 3 of us and we had fun. I can feel the Christmas spirit while putting the Christmas tree together. Christmas songs was in the background and we are all singing with it. We did not put everything though. Just enough to lift her spirit and let her know that Christmas is here. It can still happen. We know that she also want to do the rest so we are going to let her have some fun too. I am so excited. I can't wait to hear what her reactions will be. I told my friend to let me know. So, as of now all I can do is to get some sleep.

And to everyone out there... Christmas is coming and in fact for some, Christmas is here!!!

Daylight Saving Time!

When I wake up this morning and sat infront of the computer I knew there was something wrong. I keep on looking at computer's monitor and I cant seems to know what is really wrong. I keep looking at the alarm clock infront of me and realized one thing. The time in my computer and alarm clock was different. So, that was it. Then I remember its the start of what they called Daylight Saving Time and the alarm clock was an hour early LOL!!! So I just set the time and everything looks thesame now hehehe.

Daylight Saving Time... Where it's all Begun!!!

It is said that Benjamin Franklin was the fist to think of Day Light Saving during his stay in Paris as an American delegate in 1784. But this idea was pushed by William Willet, in the a short essay intitled "The Waste of Daylight" in 1907. In his essay William Willet wrote "Everyone appreciates the long, light evernings. Everyone laments their shortage as Autumn approaches; and everyone has given utterance to regret that the clear, bright light of an early morning during Spring and Summer months is so seldom seen or used." This is where it has begun. The it was implemented in the US on March 1918 and after that there has been changes of the law. Just like any laws there are some inconsistency which caused some confusion.

Hmmm... as for me this is the first time that I am affected with daylight saving time. So I dont know if this will really effect my daily task. But hey! who doesn't like an extra hour in bed? Me... I don't mind at all LOL!!!

Trick or Treat?

Last night was fun. It's halloween and as usual (here in the US) kids wear their costume. Some are cute while some are spooky! What I love was the baby dressed up like an angel. She can speak and she has a bottle of milk with her. She is really cute. One boy wears what the killer in the movie Scream had. Some painted their faces and very scary. Being my first time to celebrate a halloween I am going to rate tonight a 9. I still have candies left. So I guess I still have a treat for myself. boooooo!!!!

Glimpse of Flakes

This morning I saw the first snow flakes of this year. This is my first glimpse of a snow. Its just a little ones and it only lasted for not more than 5 minutes. But at least I was able to see it. I am happy that I will finally see a snow and experience things for the first time.

The first Frost!

a leave on the frost

We had the first frost in our area. Being my first time seeing greens with white on top makes me smile. It is a nice view for me and my husband just laughed. I just did not know by then what will happen with my vegetabe garden :(:( My garden is dying now and I am so sad. They still giving flowers and because of the frost they are dying and I can't do anything to help them. So sad but I have to live with it. Maybe next year we are going to start the garden earlier. But still I love the image of the first frost.

I can tell that the climate is changing. Its getting colder and as much us I like to see a snow I am having a second toughts whether I love the cold or not. See I came from a country where its hot. Even 50 degrees is cold enough for me. Hmmm but I am still excited for the winter to come and I know I will be having a lots of fun...

Its retarded!!!

I can't believe we grow a retarded carrot. It's retarded but cute and funny looking (LOL). My husband took some carrots out of the garden and guess what he saw... a funny looking carrot:

see? it's like a crossed legs of a human...

We both laughing at this one. I know I can't preserved it like this so decided to take a picture. I will keep this picture as long as I can so it will remind me that once upon a time we grew a retarded carrot.

We Love Crap!

This page will be more about what we do in our daily lives, with my husband's love for "crap" (will not just him actually). We love Trift's Store, Goodwill, Amvets, A+ and man oh man Garage and States Sale. We usually find something that interest us. One time he found fishing reels in Amvets and came home with a box of fishing reels. We posted it in ebay and BOOM! 4 out of 7 was sold and we almost triple our money. So I can't blame him.

Except for our love of "crap", we both love gardening and this year (being my first year) is a blast! We had a big garden that we ended up buying another freezer for our harvest but still there are so many even if we've been giving stuff to our neighbors almost everyday that maybe they might get sick of cucumbers, squash or tomatoes. But hey! it's better than buying right? We planted different stuff and more than one variant of each.

this is just one type of pepper that we grow (hungarian)

Every other day I will go outside the yard and pick fresh vegetables. We also have an everbearing strawberries which give's me fresh straberries. And nothing can beat a freshly picked vegetables or fruits.
